Introducing: The Mostly Metrics Benchmarking Club

This is something I’ve wanted to build for a long time.

Now that Mostly Metrics has grown—and now that I’m full time—I finally have the platform, audience, and focus to do it right.

Other than that one piece I wrote comparing LTV to CAC to the band Nickelback, I hope this will be my magnum opus and lasting legacy.

You’re cordially invited to join the Mostly Metrics Benchmarking Club.

It’s a members-only circle where private company operators contribute key metrics—think CAC Payback, Burn Multiple, NRR, Revenue per Employee—and get back anonymized benchmarks from the community.

Who Gets In

Groucho Marx

Only paid Mostly Metrics subscribers get access.

Unlock Reports

In addition to the deep dive pieces paid readers already get each week, here’s what you unlock:

  • A curated Benchmark Drop each quarter

  • A live, filterable dashboard (coming soon)

  • Operator commentary + trend breakdowns

  • Segmentation by ARR and GTM motion

  • Private invites to debrief sessions with other finance leaders

You don’t technically have to submit your own company data to get access—but if you do, you’ll help make the benchmarks sharper for everyone (don’t be that guy).

Don't be that Guy

All submissions are fully anonymized. We never share who submitted what.

Why Most Benchmark Reports Are Broken

Let’s be honest. Most private company benchmarking reports suck. They are:

  • Stale: 6+ months old by the time they hit your inbox. Market moved on by then, my mans.

  • Sourced from disparate places: Stitched together from random billing partners and social media asks because there’s no real audience behind them.

  • Biased: Pulled from VC portfolios, not the broader market. Investors preaching their books.

  • Too thin: Not enough data to slice by stage, motion, or model. No one ever got excited about an “n” of 14.

The Benchmarking Club is different. It’s:

  • Fresh: Updated quarterly

  • Segmented: By real ARR cohorts and GTM motions

  • Operator-led: Built from actual submissions, sourced consistently

  • Exclusive: Only for paid members

What’s Inside

Right out of the gate, we’re tracking:

  • Revenue growth rate

  • CAC Payback Period

  • Net Dollar Retention Rate

  • Gross Margin

  • Burn Multiple

  • Revenue per Employee

  • Sales Cycle Length

  • And more…

Got a metric you want to add? Just ask. Seriously. Reply back to this email.

This club is built for operators, by operators.

How Submissions Work

We’ve kept the submission form short—it takes ~4 minutes (seriously, it’s not gonna break your brain). It’s literally 8 questions.

You’ll enter basic inputs.

And we’ll calculate all outputs and any compound metrics (like CAC Payback and Burn Multiple) for you.

Everything is anonymized. No company names. No weird tracking. Just signal.
