I used to hate this question.

As a CFO, every major purchase felt like a shot in the dark. I'd text my CFO group chat, get five different answers with zero context about company size, read G2 reviews that felt like poorly written ads (why do they keep using the term “close the books” over and over again? Can they really not name a concrete action accountants take?), and would eventually just buy whatever seemed like it prob wouldn’t get my ass fired.

There was no good way to answer a simple question: What are companies like mine actually using? Like $25M to $50M companies with 200 people…. What are they using?

So I built a solution.

Just kidding. I tried to vibe code it, ripped about 47 error messages, said "this is for the birds," and hired an actual professional to build it for me. But I did do the important part: obsessing over what CFOs actually need when they're trying to make a purchasing decision.
